ACT NOW: UN General Assembly - Iran & Anti-Israel Resolutions

Sep 24, 2009

Last week, Canada took a principled stand in opposing an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolution singling out Israel for criticism. Initially, Canada had proposed a motion to dismiss the resolution outright, which was defeated. In addition, this week Canada's made a strong statement by refusing to attend Ahmadinejad’s address to the UNGA.  Click here to read Canadian political statements on this issue.

In the coming months, Canada will vote on a series of resolutions at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) which are similar in their anti-Israel tone, lack of balance, and politicization.

It is essential that the government receive your appreciation for its actions at the IAEA and UNGA to ensure that Canada continues this principled approach, and that diplomatic and economic pressures remain focused on Iran.

Act Now!  Click here  to send a letter to Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon and Prime Minister Stephen Harper thanking them for Canada’s principled stand at the IAEA, encouraging the Government to continue this approach at the UNGA and to advocate a tougher stance toward Iran.
