La citoyenneté et l’immigration
M. James Bezan (Selkirk—Interlake, PCC):
Monsieur le Président, l’Iran continue de soutenir le terrorisme, cherche à se doter d’armes nucléaires par pure bravade, demande la fin de l’État d’Israël et bafoue systématiquement les droits de citoyens iraniens innocents.
On rapporte que l’ancien directeur de la banque d’État iranienne, Mahmoud Reza Khavari, habite à Toronto. Selon les médias, il a réussi à obtenir la citoyenneté canadienne en 2005. Un deuxième homme lié à cette banque aurait aussi trouvé refuge au Canada. Mehregan Amirkhosravi habite à Montréal.
Leur présence au Canada suscite des inquiétudes parce que le Canada, ses alliés et les Nations Unies ont tous déclaré que la banque Melli est impliquée dans le financement du programme nucléaire iranien et qu’elle entretient des liens avec des groupes terroristes dans l’ensemble du Moyen-Orient. La banque Melli a acheminé de l’argent au Hamas, au Hezbollah et au Jihad islamique palestinien.
Ces hommes ne doivent pas être autorisés à abuser ouvertement de notre généreux système d’immigration; des mesures doivent donc être prises à leur égard.
J’implore le gouvernement d’avoir recours à tous les mécanismes judiciaires possibles pour révoquer la citoyenneté présumée de Khavari et de faire enquête sur l’implication de ces deux hommes dans des crimes contre l’humanité, le financement d’armes nucléaires, le soutien du terrorisme et la perpétration d’actes frauduleux.
