Human Rights Situation in Iran
Mr. Chair, I want to emphasize one aspect that I talked about a couple of times earlier tonight and that is the persecution of the Baha’i community in Iran. I have a Baha’i community in my riding that is a very peaceful, loving, open society with an open religion. The people in that community are shocked, troubled, sad and horrified at the treatment of their fellow Baha’is in Iran.

Human Rights Situation in Iran
The Baha’i people in Iran have been persecuted for years, incarcerated unfairly, with extra-judicial killings, et cetera. I am hoping the government is against that and I am wondering what type of position it is taking against that type of activity by the leaders in Iran?
National Holocaust Monument Act
Mr. Speaker, I would like to congratulate the member for bringing this forward and the work he has done on it. The member for Mount Royal will be speaking soon. As people know, he is world famous for his work on human rights. I would like to ask the member if he hopes, as I do, that this monument will also be a signal to the world that we do not forget extrajudicial killings, that they are not acceptable to the world, and that we will follow-up to ensure that they do not happen as they are occurring today in places like Burma, Darfur, Congo and Tibet?
Canadians for Action in Darfur
Mr. Speaker, it is with sad regret that, as I have previously done and as have three of my colleagues done today, I present another petition from many people in Quebec, Ontario and Nova Scotia. These signatories, collected by Canadians for Action in Darfur, want to stop the humanitarian crisis in Darfur.
